South Sound community members,
this one's for you!

But of course, everyone is invited!

What is Lag B'Omer?
Lag B'Omer marks the 33rd day of the Counting of the Omer, the seven week period between the second night of Passover and Shavuot. In traditional Judaism, the Omer are counted because God promised the freed Israelites that the Torah would be bestowed upon them 50 days following the Exodus. Over time, the Counting of the Omer transitioned from a period of anticipation into a period of mourning in traditional Judaism, due to its overlap with many tragedies in Jewish history, during which Lag B'Omer (33rd Omer) represented a joyous 24-hour reprieve from expected mourning practices.

FAQ: What distinguishes a traditional Lag B'Omer celebration from a secular humanist one?

If you've never participated in a secular humanistic Lag B'Omer before, you're in for a treat: Pack your s'mores fixins and best kebab skewers, because we're hitting the great outdoors for singing, dancing, and roasting snacks over a communal bonfire!

Please note that a Discover Pass is required to access state parks. If you don't already have one, you can order a One-Day Pass online here for $11.50 or in-person at the park entrance for $10.
Discounted/Free options: If you are a senior, have a disability, or are considered low-income, you may qualify for a free or discounted pass. Find out if you qualify and submit an application here.
If you can't afford a Discover Pass, and you don't qualify for a free pass, we still want you to come! Please request a ride in the event registration form.
