We at the Secular Jewish Circle of Puget Sound endeavor to be Seattle's home for secular Jews. To this end, we have brought you secular holiday programming, and select broader cultural programming, since 1995. In addition to our standard holiday programming and Mitzvah Secular Sunday School, in the coming year (5785) we're looking to expand the quantity of holidays we host and recruit committee chairs to kickstart budding community engagement and social justice initiatives, by popular demand. Thank you for making your voices heard!

We are a community-driven and volunteer-run organization; so we want to hear from you about what programming you'd like to see or become involved in, in the upcoming year, even if you don't plan on becoming a member.

Come join the circle!

What do my dues pay for?

  • Fairly and competitive pay for contract work, such as live musicians and on-site childcarers at events
  • Event venue rentals, equipment and supplies
  • Digital tool licenses, subscriptions and fees, such as for the website management, CRM software and softphones
  • Mandatory federal, state and local government taxes and licensing fees
  • Costs associated with payment processing, such as merchant services, bookkeeping services and transaction fees

How do I benefit from becoming a member?

  • Events are always free for members! Non-members may be solicited for a suggested donation* at event registration.
  • Ability to enroll your children in Mitzvah Secular Sunday School
  • Complimentary membership to the Society for Humanistic Judaism
  • Complimentary digital subscription to Humanistic Judaism Magazine
  • Ensure the Secular Jewish Circle is able to continue hosting non-theistic, radically-inclusive Jewish cultural events around the Puget Sound!

Annual Membership Dues*

  • $295* for single-adult households
  • +$100* per additional adult member in the household
  • We do not charge for minors (under the age of 18) in the household
  • No household turned away: SJC does not turn away families who are unable to pay the full membership amount. If you need to request a payment plan, lower membership rate, or even a full waiver, for membership dues because of temporary hardship: please register anyway and connect with our Treasurer to explain your situation and needs so we can adjust your invoice.
  • Give the gift of community: Any additional funds paid beyond the listed prices will be used to supplement the dues of members whose households cannot afford the full amount because of hardship but wish to continue attending events. Protip: A great way to make your dues go even farther is by requesting your employer match your payment for free via your employer's charitable giving platform!

Membership Registration FAQ

  • I'm already a member and would like to renew. Do I need to fill out the registration form again?
Reregistration is strongly recommended for renewing members so we can update your contact information and volunteer interests on file with us.
  • I'm not ready to pay yet! Will this form ask me for immediate payment?
No! Once we've processed your registration form, we will manually invoice your account for the total due, and you can log in to pay whenever you're ready.
  • Does registering legally commit me to pay? Can these invoices go to collections?
There is never any obligation to pay your invoice if you register. If the invoice is not paid by the deadline, and we do not otherwise hear from you, we will automatically clear the charge(s) from your account and set your status to "non-member" in our system.

Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about membership!

Tax Notice: Please note that, because Secular Jewish Circle is a 501(c)(3) organization, your payments may be tax deductible.
