Rosh Hashanah 5786/2025

Monday, September 22, 2025 29 Elul 5785

5:00 PM - 7:00 PMEvergreen neighborhood of Shoreline (exact location disclosed upon registration)

Join the Circle to usher in Jewish Year 5786 with a secular humanistic Rosh Hashanah service! 🙌

If you've never been to one of our Rosh Hashanah services before, you're in for a treat! The service will lead with a topical sermon, transition into an interactive, secular service, and culminate in a memorable tashlikh. A kiddush will follow, with wine (& grape juice!), round challah, apples and honey for a sweet new year! 🍎🍯

FAQ: What distinguishes a traditional Rosh Hashanah service from a secular humanist one?

Program:

  • 3:00pm - Setup volunteers arrive
  • 4:30pm - Doors open
  • 5:00pm - Service begins
  • 6:00pm - Kiddush potluck
  • 7:00pm - Cleanup begins

We will be accepting donations in support of
Jewish Family Service's Annual Food Drive!

What can I donate? / What do they need most?

Potluck

Attendees are welcome to bring snack-portioned Rosh Hashanah-themed foods (think apple, honey, pomegranate-centric dishes) and non-alcocholic drinks to share for a casual potluck, but full ingredient lists must be included to accommodate those with dietary restrictions and sensitivities. Print SJC Ingredients Card (fillable version)

To help us keep track of which minimum necessary potluck items have been reserved and how many we still need this year, we've incorporated a handy reservation widget in the registration form. Below is an up-to-the-minute listing of those quantities stand:

Round Challah with cutting board & knife 3 Booked
Honey Cake with cutting board & knife 2 Booked
Whole Apple with knife (please do not pre-cut, they brown quickly) 6 Booked
6x
Squeezable Bottle of Honey (less mess!) 2 Booked
Bottle of Kedem/Martinelli's (SJC will provide the wine!) 5 Booked
Variety is the spice of life! I will bring something NOT listed! Register Now

If you'd like to bring something from this list even though it's fully reserved, or something not listed at all, you're more welcome to bring it anyway! These are just the minimum necessary items and quantities to host the service.
