Jewish Family Service Annual Food Sort
Sunday, October 13, 2024 • 11 Tishrei 5785
10:00 AM - 12:00 PMExact location disclosed upon registrationJewish Family Service of Seattle (JFS), a longtime affiliate of SJC, manages its own food bank, Polack Food Bank, on Capitol Hill in Seattle, from which it's been feeding our local community for nearly 100 years. Today, they help fight food insecurity in more than 2,000 households, both within Seattle as well as on the eastside.
Each year, JFS hosts an Annual Food Drive in support of their Polack Food Bank as a High Holiday tzedakah opportunity, which runs from Rosh Hashanah through Yom Kippur. SJC supports their drive each year by collecting food donations at both our High Holiday events. Want to make a food donation outside our Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur events? Click here to learn more about the drive, including what food they can accept and what food they need most this year.
This activity culminates in their Annual Food Sort, where more than 200 volunteers gather each year to sort through, organize, and distribute all the donations they received throughout the drive. Every year, our older Mitzvah Secular Sunday School students volunteer their time in support of the Sort, and YOU can join them!
