SJC Hanukkah Celebration & Potluck

Sunday, December 21, 2025 1 Tevet 5786

4:00 PM - 6:00 PMNorthlake neighborhood of Seattle (exact address provided upon registration)

Join the Circle this holiday season for a joyous community Secular Humanistic Hanukkah celebration! Candle-lighting, singing, homemade latkes, and a potluck meal! Doors will open at 4pm.

FAQ: What distinguishes a traditional Hanukkah celebration from a secular humanist one?

BYOM (Bring Your Own Menorah!)

This year, we'll be lighting on the FINAL night of Hanukkah 🔥 so bring your own menorah & all NINE candles so we can light ALL our menorahs 🕎 together as a community! (We'll have the fire department 🚒 on speed dial!)

Holiday Jukebox!

As is SJC tradition, we'll have a sing along to our favorite new and traditional 🎶 Hanukkah music 🎶 immediately following candle-lighting, and of course, we'll need some music to play during the event to set the holiday mood! Have any favorite Hanukkah songs or albums in mind you'd like to hear? Send in your song selections!

Fresh-fried Latkes!

Our Madrikh Jeff Treistman will be leading a team of volunteers a couple hours beforehand in the SJC tradition of frying fresh latkes for the event. We have a lot of people to fry for! 🧑‍🍳 Never flipped or fried before? Beginners welcome! 🌟

Community Potluck!

Attendees are encouraged to bring a potluck dish 🥧 or non-alcoholic beverage 🥤 to share, so long as you include a full ingredients list. 📋 You are encouraged to include your contact info if you are comfortable with people reaching out to you about your recipe!
