SJC is proud to once again be tabling at the Fremont Fair to drive membership and start conversation! If you find yourself at the fair, come say hi! 👋
If you've never attended Fremont Fair before, it's a large annual street fair in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle featuring hundreds of local artisans, dozens of delicious multi-ethnic food trucks, and a huge parade to celebrate the summer solstice. The fair is free to attend for the whole family (including furbabies!), but be aware that most vendors charge for their wares.
Would you be interested in sharing what Secular Humanistic Judaism means to you with the community? The fair is quite long, and we want to make sure all our tabling volunteers have reasonable shift lengths and plenty of opportunities to take breaks. Volunteers will NEVER have to man the booth alone. If you'd like to volunteer to table with us, register below and we'll be in touch closer to the event!
What kind of conversations can I expect to have with the community as a volunteer?
- What does it mean to you to be simultaneously secular AND Jewish?
- Why did you choose a secular congregation rather than a reform one?
- Statistically, most atheist and agnostic Jews today simply opt out of being part of a synagogue or Jewish community altogether; why did you seek out a secular congregation rather than opting out entirely, and how has that decision positively impacted your life or relationship to your Jewishness?
