30th Anniversary Online Silent Auction
Monday, September 22, 2025 • 29 Elul 5785
All Day for 11 DaysSome quick background...
Five years ago, when the pandemic hit, Secular Jewish Circle was on the brink of dissolution. After steady decline in interest, volunteerism and donations, the Steering Committee was meeting to decide if the best course of action was to close our doors...
We are here today because the leadership at that time made the bold decision to push through and stand firm for our community. ✊
They wisely scaled back some of our operations and began dipping their toes in virtual gatherings, to preserve our savings, and over the following couple years, new, enthusiastic leadership stepped up to share their ideas and passion with the organization, which steadily reinvigorated interest.
Now, five years later, and 30 years following our incorporation with the state of Washington, we're projecting our first year fully restored to pre-pandemic levels: 100+ registration for our largest events, including Rosh Hashanah and Hanukkah, and nearly 30 students in our Sunday School. With these inspiring projections, we've got some bold new changes and programming coming up this year you won't want to miss out on, including the return of fundraisers:
The Auction!
The Goal: We've lined up a 30th Anniversary-themed fundraiser in the form of an online silent auction and fundraiser to help rebuild our savings that we've carefully rationed through at since the pandemic hit, and ensure we have enough funds to continue broadening our scope and serving our community in the years ahead.
We've set a fundraising goal of $10,000 🌡️
with a stretch goal of $15,000. 💪
Timeframe: The auction and fundraiser will last from Erev Rosh Hashanah through Yom Kippur, to sync with the high holiday tzedakah tradition.
Auction Lots: Some of the great items up for auction:
- Professional photography package from Michael O'Dwyer Photography
- Seafair All Access Passes including Hydroplane Pit Access
- Family Fun Pack for Woodland Park Zoo
How you can help: We'll post a link to the auction closer to the auction dates, but in the meantime, how can you support this effort?
- In-kind donations: Have an item or service you'd be willing to donate in-kind for sale in our auction? Submit it here and we'll reach out shortly!
- Traditional donations: Want to support our fundraising goal but don't want to participate in the auction? We've overhauled our "Donate" page to be our "Ways To Give" page, including tons of new ways to support us! All donations we receive during the auction period will count toward our fundraising goal!
- Membership: Consider becoming a member or renewing your membership this year!
- Sunday School: Consider (re-)enrolling your child(ren) in our Sunday School this year!
- Volunteer: We're still looking for additional leadership volunteers!
- Request a yard sign: Help us spread the word by requesting an SJC lawn sign to post in your neighborhood!
