5:00 PM - 8:00 PMEvergreen neighborhood of Shoreline (exact location disclosed upon registration)

Come join the Circle for our annual Secular Humanistic Passover Seder and community potluck dinner on April 4th! Passover is a Jewish high holiday that celebrates the freedom of the Jewish people from slavery in, and subsequent exodus from, ancient Egypt.

FAQ: What distinguishes a traditional Passover Seder from a secular humanist one?

Table Hosts / Seder Plates

This holiday requires a LOT of food to be prepared, both for consumption and for symbolic display, so we invite generous families to volunteer to be table hosts! Traditionally, this meant one person/family volunteering to bring ALL Seder Plate items for a single table (aka 5 settings/servings worth of ALL Seder Plate items, including the Seder Plate itself), which required preparing and bringing a large variety of items in relatively small quantities.

This year, we're suggesting something that hopefully proves less onerous: Hosting specific Seder Plate item(s), in per-table quantities. This way, you can easily commit to bringing specific items in bulk, such as a large carton of eggs or a jumbo box of matzo, to stock many tables at once!

FAQ: What items can be found on a secular humanistic seder plate,
and what do they represent?

Here's a list of Seder Plate items we anticipate needing for the service (expecting to need 10-13 tables) listed in per-table quantities (5 people + 1 Seder Plate per table = 6 settings/servings per table) and what has already been reserved:

Potluck Dinner

We invite your family to bring something to share with the community for dinner, following the service! Items that cater to people with dietary restrictions, such as vegan, gluten-free or nut-free are especially appreciated. Let's make everyone feel included!

In the spirit of the holiday, we politely request that no potluck items contain pork or shellfish!

To ensure an even spread of potluck items, we're providing the following handy tracker, which displays all reservations by current registrants, as of today:
