We
celebrate the Jewish holidays, emphasizing the values of justice,
courage, and personal dignity.
We meet monthly
for a Shabbat or Havdalah program followed by an engaging cultural program,
that have included invited speakers, children's activities, singing or
folkdancing events, recipe exchanges, humor exchanges. We also have celebrations
for Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Hanukkah, Tu B'Shevat, and Passover.
We meet for regional
meetings with similar groups in Portland, Victoria and Vancouver.
We offer Jewish
education programs for adults, youth education classes, family
programs, and Hebrew classes for youth and adults.
We have a madrikha
(ceremonial leader) who is trained to create and lead secular life cycle
ceremonies, from baby namings to memorial observances, including secular
bar/bat mitzvah.
We are a caring
community, supporting our members in times of joy as well as in times
of need.
Here is a list of our current
activities.
